The Search for Meaning
Burning candles flicker through the night
Sleep now, rest here, waiting for the light to break through
Fragile, fallen, shelter through the storm
Sleep now, rest here, longing for the dawn
Faint heart, burn bright as you wait to see the light
And we are here, nameless from birth
We search yet blind and bound to earth
And we are one, a thought frozen in time
Weep for a world that waits to die
And as we weave these darkened dreams
Come taste the bitter tears we bleed
And in our eyes, a sorrow that we share
A burden far too great to bear all alone
What is this life? Vanity all
A span of days we can’t recall
What is this death? The comfort of a friend
The search for meaning at the end
All our gods are broken
Silent as the grave
All our hope is fading
Scorn and fear remains
Emptiness and whispers
Unavailing eyes
Will the earth remember?
Will she hear our cries?
Burning candles flicker through the night
Sleep now, rest here, waiting for the light
Burning candles flicker, holding back the night
Faint heart, burn bright as we wait to see the light
Fragile and fallen, we shelter through the storm
Sleep now and rest here as we wait to see the dawn
All our gods are broken
Silent as the grave
All our hope is fading
Scorn and fear remains
Emptiness and whispers
Unavailing eyes
Will the earth remember?
Will she hear our cries?
Will the sky behold us
In our crimson pain?
Death and rage and hatred
Call us from the grave
Burning candles flicker
Waiting for the light
Will the earth remember?
Will she hear our cries?
What is this life if not a sorrow that we share?
What is this pain if not a burden that we bear?
What is this death if not the comfort of a friend?
What is this endless search for meaning at the end?
Burning candles flicker through the night
Sleep now, rest here, waiting for the light

Allow me to copy Pagan Altar's third album title to describe not only III:Pentecost but the whole discography of Wytch Hazel so far: well, yes, it's Magical and Mythical!!! A must-have for the lovers of 70's hard sound revival. BoneWalker

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
